Ebb Bayley (he/they) uses fabricated archaeologies to retell stories of transformation. Fragments of folklore are stitched together to upend cautionary tales. Painting is deployed as a type of recounting, finding habitable moments in creaturely bodies.
These works are in a hyperstitional loop of relation; by being buried, being squished, creeping into the cracks the painted subjects enter a circuit of communication between the past and future. Formally, the dissolving forms and static surfaces in the work reflect the conditions of Bayley’s visual disability.
